Most failed notary appointments come down to one of four issues: an expired ID, a document that was already signed, a missing second signer, or a form that requires witnesses nobody arranged.
Bring a valid, unexpired government photo ID. Georgia notaries must confirm your identity, and an expired license is not acceptable proof.
Do not sign your document in advance unless the certificate is an acknowledgment that permits it. For a jurat, you must sign in the notary's presence.
Finally, read the notarial wording at the bottom of your form. It tells the notary which act to perform — and if it is blank, the person who gave you the document should tell you which one they require.
